  • When does registration go live?
    Registration dates will be posted on our booking pages.
  • Can I register in person?
    Registration for all of our programs will take place online, through this portal. Payment is through credit card. If you are unable to register online and/or do not have a credit card, please get in touch with us at 947swim@gmail.com. Please note classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
  • What happens if I'm waitlisted for a program?
    If you are waitlisted for a program we will contact you and provide other options to register. Depending on waitlist numbers, space and time available, we may be able to create another class.
  • Can I transfer my registration?
    You can transfer your registration with in the same level if it is within a minimum 14 calendar days before the start of the program.
  • How do I create a member account?
    To register as a member click on the log in icon at the top right corner(desktop) or top(mobile) of the screen. Sign up with facebook, google or email accounts. Once registration is open you will be able to access all programs under "My Bookings" and click on "Register for programs"
  • How can I figure out my child's swimming level?
    If your child has previously enrolled in swim lessons before please read the level description and use the Equivelancy Chart If your child has previous enrolled with 947 Swim we keep a swim level history for each participant. We are able to let you know what level your child's swim ability is equivelant to with other swim programs such as Red Cross (West Van) and I Can Swim (North Van). If you are still unsure of your child's level please contact Billi at 947swim@gmail.com
  • Do you offer Canadian Red Cross swim programs?
    The Canadian Red Cross is winding down its swim and lifeguarding programming to focus on surging humanitarian demands in other areas – such as disaster and pandemic response, opioid harm reduction and caregiving for seniors. Read the press release. 947 Swim has transitioned to the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Program Please see level equivalency chart for appropriate levels.
  • What gear do I need to bring to lessons?
    All swimmers will need to bring goggles that have a proper fit and seal. It is recommended to wear a sun shirt to minimize sun exposure and sunscreen application. Swim caps and/or hair elastics can be provided for swimmers with long hair. *For all Parent and Tot classes, please have your child wear swim diapers during their lesson. Please take your diposable swim diapers with you after lessons.
  • Where are your pools located?
    We currently use two outdoor pools: Tunstall Bay Pool and Snug Point Pool Tunstall Bay Pool is located at Tunstall Bay Clubhouse, 1666 Tunstall Boulevard. Snug Point Pool is a private pool located in Snug Cove. We primarily use Tunstall Bay pool for group lessons and Snug Point pool for private and semi-private lessons. You will be provided the address for the Snug Point Pool once you have registered for your program. Note: Both pools are not available for public use.
  • Are there change rooms and showers I can use?
    There are changerooms and washrooms available for use at both of our pools. All pool users must shower before entering the pool.
  • Why did my class get cancelled?
    Every so often we have to cancel a class when it doesn't hit the minimum registration numbers. If this happens, you will be notified at minimum 14 days before the start date of the program. We'll always try to move you (or your child) to another class, and of course it that doesn't work out, we'll issue a full refund. *All lessons at Snug Point Pool are subject to cancellation due to the owners use of the pool
  • What happens if I need to cancel?
    Before Classes Begin: If you are registered, but are now no longer able to make the classes, please let us know as soon as possible. We can only give refunds if reasonable time permits to find a replacement. Payment fees will not be refunded. After Classes Start: There are no refunds or credits for classes after the start of the first class. *Note: If your child ends up needing a more appropriate swim level, please chat with your instructor. Any changes to classes after start date are at the discretion of 947 Swim. Need to Miss a Class? If you or your child need to miss a class due to vacation, illness, scheduling, etc, please let your instructor know. We are unfortunately not able to offer make ups, credits or transfers, but will gladly see you at the next class! If you or your child need to cancel a private class, please contact your instructor and we will work together to see if we can find an alternate time.
  • Are classes cancelled if it's raining?
    All of our classes run rain or shine. We will not refund or credit classes missed by personal choice due to weather. ​ We do reserve the right to cancel lessons due to extreme weather that pose a risk to swimmers and/or instructors. Full refunds will be given for classes cancelled in those situations and/or at the discretion of 947 Swim.
  • Do you take photos or video during classes? Can I opt-out?
    We love to share our swimmers successes and special moments and yes from time-to-time, we do take photos and/or videos during class! If you would prefer not to have your photo and/or video taken, please ensure you opt-out during the registration process. If at any time you're uncomfortable with footage being taken, please do let your instructor know. Our photos and video are often posted on our social media channels.   • Can I take a photo or a video while my child is in their class?
    You can take a photo and/or video of your child's class. But you should ask permission before sharing photo's or video of other peoples children if posting on your social media accounts.
  • What are the policies and procedures that 947 Swim have put in place for Covid-19 and preventing Communicable Disease?
    You can access all of our policies and procedures on our Communicable Disease Prevention Plan page. All of our policies and procedures have been developed through recommendations and guidlines from Lifesaving Society of B.C (Guidelines for Reopening B.C's Pools and Waterfronts), Vancouver Coastal Health (Guidelines for Pools), WorkSafe BC, BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) and the BC Center for Disease Control. Both 947 Swim facility operators, owner/instructors, and 947 Participants will have a role of responsiblity in the success of our Communicable Disease Prevention Plan
  • What should I do if me or any of my family develop symptoms of Covid 19 or a Communicable Disease after registering for a 947 Swim Program?
    Please inform us as soon as you feel any symptoms associated with Covid 19 or a Communicable Disease. You may not attend any 947 Programs for 5 days from the onset of symptoms. Before returning to and 947 Program please refer to our Covid-19 and Communicable Disease Prevention Plan
  • What if I have to cancel my lessons due to symptoms of Covid-19 or a Communicable Disease?
    All participants must declare they are symptom free before attending a 947 Swim program. If you feel you are experiencing symptoms please refer to our Communicable Disease Prevention Plan
  • What if my instructor is showing signs and symptoms similar to Covid-19 or a Communicable Disease?
    All of our instructors are required to use the Daily Health Check if they feel symptoms prior to instructing each daily lesson. Our instructors must follow our Communicable Disease Prevention Plan.
  • What do I need to bring for open water courses?
    You will need to bring a wetsuit as wetsuits are mandatory for these courses. A pair of goggles that have a proper seal on your face. You can also bring a bright colored swim cap so other swimmers and boat traffic can see you in the water, but you will also receive a 947 swim cap with your registration.
  • Is there a washroom at the beach I can get changed?
    Yes, at Tunstall Bay location there are public toilets.
